The average number of people employed in Georgia’s business sector reached 828,354 in Q2 2026, up 4.1% year-on-year, according to Geostat’s enterprise activity data.
Women accounted for 43.8% of total employment and men for 56.2%. By business size, 42.6% of employees worked in large businesses, 19.7% in medium-sized businesses, and 37.7% in small businesses.
The number of hired employees stood at 768,600, up 3.1% year-on-year, while total personnel expenses reached GEL 5.8 billion, an annual increase of 10.3%. By employment numbers, the leading sectors were wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, manufacturing, and human health and social work activities.
The average monthly salary of employees in the business sector was GEL 2,471.5, up GEL 153.8 year-on-year. Women earned an average of GEL 1,944.9, an increase of GEL 161.4. By business size, average monthly salaries were GEL 2,622.8 in large businesses, GEL 2,918.9 in medium-sized businesses, and GEL 1,972.3 in small businesses.
