Georgia’s business-sector turnover increased by 11.1% year-on-year to a record GEL 253.7 billion in 2025, up from GEL 228.5 billion in 2024, according to Geostat. Arts, entertainment and recreation accounted for 35.5% of turnover, followed by wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair at 33.6%. Manufacturing accounted for 7.7%, construction for 6.1%, and transport and storage for 4.6%.
Business activity has expanded nearly fourfold over the past decade. Private-sector turnover stood at GEL 57 billion in 2015, compared with GEL 253.7 billion in 2025. Total output also increased by 10.3% year-on-year to GEL 99.9 billion, from GEL 90.5 billion in 2024.
Large businesses generated 68.2% of total turnover, or GEL 173 billion, while small and medium-sized businesses accounted for 16.1% and 15.8%, respectively. However, SMEs accounted for more than 54% of total output: small businesses contributed 28%, medium-sized businesses 26.2%, and large businesses 45.8%.
Businesses’ total purchases of goods and services reached GEL 123.5 billion in 2025, up by 7.6% year-on-year. Of this amount, GEL 76.4 billion was spent on goods and services intended for resale, representing a 7% annual increase.
