A total of 10,006 marriages and 6,095 divorces were registered in Georgia in January-June 2026, according to preliminary demographic data released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Tbilisi recorded the highest number of marriages, with 2,993 registrations in the first half of the year. It was followed by Imereti with 1,466, Kvemo Kartli with 1,302, and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara with 1,144 marriages.
Tbilisi also had the highest number of divorces, totaling 2,130. Imereti followed with 968 divorces, Kvemo Kartli with 674, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti with 554.
Geostat also reported 17,509 births and 22,224 deaths in Georgia during the first half of 2026. As a result, the country recorded negative natural population growth of 4,715. Final demographic data for 2026 are expected to be published by the end of March 2027.
