Georgia’s EU Membership by 2030 Is Achievable, If a Fair Environment Is Ensured - Kobakhidze

ირაკლი კობახიძე

GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has once again stated that by 2030, Georgia will be fully prepared to join the European Union—and with a fair and objective approach, this goal will undoubtedly be achieved.

He expressed hope that the European Union's approach toward Georgia will be renewed and revitalized.

“We consistently call for consultations and open discussions on all issues, urging that our dialogue be based on facts,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. “In response, however, we are often met with blunt, general statements that lack specificity or factual grounding.

When we voice our concerns over various statements or actions, we always rely on facts. This is a healthy, European approach. Unfortunately, our European approach is too often met with a Soviet-style response. We believed we had left such methods behind 35 years ago—but sadly, these approaches still persist. What is even more troubling is that we frequently see these methods coming from the West.

This must change - for Europe’s own sake, and for the improvement of Georgian-European relations. We are fully ready for this change.

Our goal is clearly stated in the Constitution of Georgia: to become a member of the European Union by 2030. This is entirely possible - if a fair and balanced approach is ensured. By 2030, Georgia will be fully prepared to join the EU. With fairness, it will definitely happen.

We sincerely hope that the EU’s approach will evolve. If it does, I believe relations between Georgia and the European Union will significantly improve,” the Prime Minister concluded.
