Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the country’s record international reserves reflect effective fiscal and economic policies. Speaking to journalists in Batumi, he highlighted the government’s high level of fiscal consolidation and strong economic growth.
According to Kobakhidze, the National Bank increased foreign currency reserves by more than $600 million over the past month alone, pushing total reserves above $8 billion for the first time.
He said Georgia’s economy grew by 7.9% in the first seven months of 2026, describing the rate as the highest in the wider region and across Europe. Kobakhidze argued that strong growth and fiscal discipline have created conditions for further reserve accumulation.
The prime minister also praised the National Bank and the government’s economic team for their performance. He said the record level of reserves was the result of coordinated and effective economic management.
