Georgia’s international reserves have nearly doubled since 2024, reaching a record $8.14 billion, National Bank President Natia Turnava said at the Tbilisi Financial Summit.
Turnava attributed the increase to favorable macroeconomic conditions and strong capital inflows, adding that reserve adequacy exceeded 128% for the first time under the International Monetary Fund’s methodology.
The National Bank purchased a net $3.37 billion on the currency market in January–September 2026, including $555.6 million in August and $248.5 million in September.
Reserves could reach $9 billion by the end of the year, according to forecasts cited in the report. November is expected to bring the next update on the bank’s foreign exchange interventions.
