Georgia’s Frozen Beef Import Prices Surge by 56.5%

Georgia has sharply increased both the volume and value of its frozen beef imports this year, with prices rising significantly. In the first two months of 2026, the country imported 956.6 tons of beef worth USD 4.3 million, compared to 645.1 tons worth USD 2.7 million in the same period of 2025.

Alongside higher import volumes, the average customs price per kilogram (excluding duties) jumped from USD 2.14 last year to USD 3.35 in January–February 2026 - a 56.5% annual increase.

The main supplier countries were:

  • Brazil – 821.2 tons worth USD 3.3 million
  • Ukraine – 90.6 tons worth USD 469,900
  • Lithuania – 40.2 tons worth USD 436,000
  • Netherlands – 1.5 tons worth USD 36,200
  • Russia – 1.5 tons worth USD 30,800

Imports of fresh beef also rose sharply. In the first two months of 2026, Georgia purchased 363.1 tons of fresh beef worth USD 2.07 million, up 165.5% in value and 125.2% in volume compared to last year. The price per kilogram increased as well: from USD 4.83 in 2025 to USD 5.70 in 2026 - an 18% rise.
