Georgia’s gambling sector generated GEL 88.3 billion in turnover in 2025, up by GEL 12.2 billion, or 15.3%, from 2024, according to Geostat. In the first two quarters of 2026, the sector’s turnover reached GEL 47.3 billion. Geostat defines turnover as the total value of bets placed by gambling businesses’ customers.
Gambling accounted for 34.8% of total business-sector turnover in 2025, up from 32.3% in 2024 and 31.2% in 2023. Total business turnover reached GEL 253.7 billion, with the arts, entertainment and recreation sector accounting for 35.5%, or GEL 88.88 billion. Gambling activities made up 99.4% of that sector’s turnover.
The gambling sector’s turnover has increased steadily in recent years, from GEL 48.08 billion in 2021 to GEL 52.2 billion in 2022, GEL 64.3 billion in 2023, GEL 76.6 billion in 2024 and GEL 88.3 billion in 2025.
In 2025, the sector employed 13,228 people, with an average monthly salary of GEL 3,742, while investment totaled GEL 63 million. Since 2023, the sector has faced higher taxes, including an increase in the profit tax rate from 10% to 15% and in the income tax on gambling winnings from 2% to 5%. Geostat has used a new methodology for measuring gambling turnover since 2018, counting the total value of bets placed rather than only amounts deposited by players.
