Education Sector Still Has Lowest Average Salary in Georgia - Where Are Wages Highest?

Georgia’s average monthly nominal salary reached GEL 2,389 in the second quarter of 2026, up by GEL 177, or 8%, year-on-year, according to Geostat. Average pay was higher in the business sector at GEL 2,563, compared with GEL 2,059 in the public sector.

The highest average salaries were recorded in information and communication (GEL 4,400), financial and insurance activities (GEL 4,074), construction (GEL 3,496.6), professional, scientific and technical activities (GEL 3,305), and mining and quarrying (GEL 3,012).

The lowest average salaries were recorded in other service activities (GEL 1,378.8), education (GEL 1,467.6), agriculture, forestry and fishing (GEL 1,500.7), water supply, sewerage and waste management (GEL 1,627.4), and administrative and support services (GEL 1,894.7).

Geostat’s average salary figures include income tax, meaning the average net salary was about GEL 1,911 in Q2. The agency collects wage data from up to 16,000 enterprises, including salaries, bonuses and other payments, to calculate the average.
