Georgia's Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze has called on contractor RTD to immediately accelerate work on the rehabilitation of the Zhinvali–Pasanauri road, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure. The minister inspected the project on-site, saying the current pace of construction is unsatisfactory.

The 10-kilometer section is part of Georgia's main north-south highway and an international transport corridor. The Roads Department awarded RTD a GEL 29.4 million contract in May 2026 after announcing the tender in January.

The project includes full road resurfacing, rehabilitation of 10 bridges, installation of drainage systems, retaining and riverbank protection walls, bus stops, road signs, safety barriers, and road markings.

RTD previously worked on the rehabilitation of Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi, where its contract was terminated by City Hall in early 2024 following repeated delays. Despite that, the company has continued to win major public infrastructure contracts.
