Georgia’s Insurance Premiums Reach GEL 521 MLN in Q1 2026

Insurance companies in Georgia generated GEL 521 million in premiums from direct insurance activities in the first quarter of 2026, according to the State Insurance Supervision Service. The figure represents a 15% increase year-on-year.

During the reporting period, insurers recorded GEL 94 million in insurance profit and GEL 31 million in net profit. The sector’s total assets stood at GEL 1.8 billion, while total capital amounted to GEL 528 million.

The largest premium volumes were reported by:

  • Imedi L – GEL 124 million (+106% y/y)
  • TBC Insurance – GEL 82 million (+5% y/y)
  • GPI Holding – GEL 70 million (-24% y/y)
  • Aldagi – GEL 45 million (-2.2% y/y)

By insurance segment, health insurance remained the largest category, generating GEL 303 million in premiums, up nearly 22% from a year earlier. It was followed by motor insurance with GEL 93.5 million (+9.5%) and life insurance with GEL 40.7 million (+26%).

Claim payments also increased during the quarter. Total compensated claims rose from GEL 177 million in Q1 2025 to GEL 200 million in Q1 2026. GPI Holding paid the largest amount in claims at GEL 36 million, followed by TBC Insurance with GEL 31 million and Aldagi with GEL 25 million.
