Georgia’s IT sector generated $841.6 million in external revenue in the first half of 2026, up by 72% year-on-year, according to National Bank of Georgia data. Revenue reached $441 million in Q1, up by 65%, and $400 million in Q2, an 80% increase.
The strong growth in IT external revenue was one of the main factors behind the expansion of Georgia’s broader information and communication sector, which includes IT. The sector grew by 36% year-on-year in Q1 to GEL 2.2 billion, while growth in Q2 stood at 16.6%, with the sector reaching GEL 1.89 billion.
The IT boom has been largely linked to migration, as thousands of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian IT specialists moved to Georgia temporarily. Many registered companies or obtained individual entrepreneur status, meaning their activities were recorded as IT services provided from Georgia.
Employment in the information and communication sector has also increased significantly. The number of employees rose from 30,600 at the end of 2021 to around 39,000 in 2022 and reached 54,500 in 2025.
