Georgia’s Potato Exports Surge by 262% in 2025

In 2025, Georgia recorded a substantial increase in potato exports. According to official data, the country earned $27.3 million from potato exports between January and December and shipped 82,522 tons to international markets. Compared to 2024, when export revenue totaled $7.5 million and volume reached 35,002 tons, the figures represent a 261.6% rise in value and a 135.7% increase in volume.

Russia remained Georgia’s largest export destination for potatoes, receiving 50,347 tons worth $20.5 million. Significant export volumes were also recorded in Azerbaijan (24,320 tons; $4.4 million), Belarus (3,302 tons; $1.3 million), and Armenia (3,766 tons; $801,000). Smaller quantities were shipped to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, and Uzbekistan.

Despite booming exports, Georgia’s potato imports also increased sharply. In 2025, the country imported 8,768 tons of potatoes worth $2.9 million, almost doubling compared to the previous year’s 6,055 tons and $1.9 million. This reflects a 49.5% increase in value and 44.8% growth in volume.

Turkey was the main supplier, delivering 6,705 tons valued at $1.8 million. Other key import partners included Egypt (989 tons; $562,000) and Azerbaijan (1,006 tons; $416,000), with smaller volumes arriving from Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
