Georgia imported $17.2 million worth of suitcases, travel bags, handbags, and similar products in the first half of 2026, up by 13.2% from $15.2 million in the same period last year, according to foreign trade data.
Despite the increase in import value, import volumes declined. Between January and June, Georgia imported 1,330 tons of luggage and travel accessories, down 5.6% from 1,409 tons a year earlier, indicating an increase in the average import price.
China remained Georgia's largest supplier, accounting for $7.6 million worth of imports, or about 44% of the total, with shipments totaling 852 tons. Italy ranked second with $2.8 million in imports, although the volume was much smaller at 37 tons, followed by Turkey with $2 million and 196 tons.
Other leading suppliers included Spain ($961,000), the Netherlands ($758,000), France ($669,000), Germany ($449,000), Hong Kong ($377,000), the United Arab Emirates ($230,000), and Poland ($217,000).
