According to Geostat, the average monthly expenditure of a household in Georgia stands at GEL 1,936, while per capita spending is GEL 603 per month. The agency noted that household spending increased by 11.6% in 2025, or about GEL 200 per household, and by GEL 63 per person.
Food remains the largest spending category, accounting for 38.7% of total household expenses, up from 38.1% in 2024. Transport follows with 11.4%, utilities with 11.3%, and healthcare and medicines with 11%. Clothing accounts for 5.8%, durable household goods such as furniture and appliances for 5.1%, education for 2.9%, and other consumption categories for 13.7%.
The share of food spending is higher in rural areas at 41.6%, compared to 37.5% in urban households.
Overall, despite rising incomes and expenditures, food continues to dominate household budgets in Georgia.
