According to GeoStat, in the third quarter, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.5 percentage points year-on-year, reaching 13.3%. It is noteworthy that during the same period, the labor force participation rate also declined.
Specifically, in Q3 2025, the labor force participation rate (the share of the labor force within the population aged 15 and older) decreased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year, standing at 54.5%.
According to GeoStat, in Q3:
- Employees: 975.3 thousand people (up 0.1%)
- Self-employed: 418.4 thousand (down 3.3%)
- Unemployed: 213.7 thousand (down 5.4%)The employment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points in Q3, reaching 47%.
Labor force participation decreased in urban areas by 0.2 percentage points, while it increased in rural areas by 0.1 percentage points.In the third quarter of the current year, compared to the same period of the previous year, the unemployment rate:
- In urban settlements increased by 1.1 percentage points
- In rural settlements decreased by 3 percentage pointsThe unemployment rate remains traditionally higher among men than among women.
The labor force participation rate is also higher for men. In Q3 2025, this indicator was 44% for women and 67% for men.It is noteworthy that the employment rate among women decreased by 0.7 percentage points, while among men it increased by 1.2 percentage points.
