Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declares that German specialists will study landslide processes activated on Machavariani Street and adjacent slopes in the Vashlijvari settlement of Tbilisi.
Kakha Kaladze notes, that the landslide processes are active over the years.
"What caused the process still unknown. It is not starting today or yesterday. This is an ongoing process over the years. As soon as we realized that there was a danger, preventive measures were taken, Machavariani Street was shut down. We are waiting for specialists from Germany on Monday and works will begin in the near future to open the road as quickly as possible," – said the mayor of the City.
According to him, the landslide process is not connected with the construction of a new road below Machavariani Street.
“It has nothing common with road works. The landslide process is on the upper slope of Machavariani Street, while the road works are underway down this street. The only work that was carried out on Machavariani Street was the replacement of water and sewage pipes,” said Kakha Kaladze.
