The German Federal Government has provided $1.55 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion started, mostly through grants. The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

“Financial, military and humanitarian support is extremely important for countering aggression effectively. And Germany is one of the leaders in supporting our struggle against the terrorist actions of Russia,” Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko noted.

According to the ministry, on August 4, 2023, the Ukrainian finance minister met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Martin Jaeger. The parties discussed the current economic situation, financial challenges during martial law, Ukraine’s European integration path, cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the financing needs for the next budget period.

A reminder that Ukraine expects to receive $42 billion in financial assistance in 2023, including $4.6 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
