Ukraine received $23.6 billion in macro-financial assistance from partners this year. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, July 4, Ukrinform reports.
"In total, in 2023, Ukraine received $23.6 billion in partner macro-financial assistance. The biggest contribution is from the European Union, the United States, Canada and the IMF," Shmyhal said.
According to him, the state budget received the second tranche as part of a large financing program from the International Monetary Fund. This is $890 million for priority expenses.
"We are grateful to all our friends for their incredible solidarity and willingness to support our struggle for independence and our plans to restore the country," Shmyhal said.
He noted that economic support from partners is an important element of Ukraine's stability. It allows financing non-military budget expenditures, particularly the country's social obligations, he said.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Ukraine expects to receive $42 billion in financial assistance in 2023, including $4.6 billion from the IMF.
