Commissioner of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, Giorgi Pangani has delivered welcoming speech at the Closing Conference of Twinning Light Project on Development of Digitalisation Strategy. Mr. Pangani has emphasized importance of Digitalisation for the development of energy sector. He elaborated on the efficiency of the EU-funded twinning light project and the GNERC’s digitalization strategy developed within its framework.
„Digitalisation is one of the priorities for GNERC. Existence of proper regulatory framework, efficient and secure data processing, as well as the development of digitalization strategy is of utmost importance. Digitalisation is key in the process of ongoing Georgian Energy Market reforms, both at the wholesale and retail levels. For the efficient, transparent and competitive functioning of the energy markets equipping market participants and consumers with respective digital tools is vital for ensuring their active participation. Draft of GNERC’s digitalization strategy and action plan has been developed within the project that will ensure higher efficiency of GNERC’s activities, improve the quality of services provided to the end-consumers. At the end of the day this will foster establishment of the energy markets in compliance with EU-requirements” – stated Giorgi Pangani in his speech.
The EU-funded Twinning Light project on Assisting Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) in Creating Enabling Environment for Digitalisation and Developing Digitalisation Strategy has been implemented at Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission. The leading objective of this 8-month project with the overall contribution of € 250 000 from the European Union was to assist the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) in the process of digitalisation and development of digitalisation strategy with a due regard to the needs and challenges encountered by GNERC. The Project was implemented by Gestore Servizi Energetici (GSE). The leader of the project was Giorgi Pangani, Commissioner of GNERC.
