Bank of Georgia has announced a key leadership appointment, with Giorgi Shagidze set to join the Group as Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer starting in March, pending regulatory approvals. Shagidze brings extensive experience in banking transformation and financial management, having previously led a major transformation at Maib, the largest bank in Moldova, and held a long-term CFO role.

Commenting on his new role, Shagidze said:

"I am very excited to share that, starting in March and subject to the relevant regulatory approvals, I will be joining Bank of Georgia Group as Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer. Over the past years, I have had the privilege of leading a full transformation journey at maib. That chapter is now coming to a close, and I am deeply grateful to the people and all the partners who made this journey possible. Equipped with this experience, together with my long-term CFO background, I am very much looking forward to working with the Group’s leadership and teams to help build the next phase of growth, expand beyond borders, and create long-term sustainable value. I would like to sincerely thank Archil Gachechiladze for his trust and leadership, the Board and leadership team for their confidence, and separately acknowledge Sulkhan Gvalia for his work, partnership, and contribution over many years. Earlier in my career, I spent a period at Bank of Georgia and also had worked closely and successfully with Sulkhan. Returning now , with broader responsibility and scope, feels both meaningful and energizing. I look forward to joining the team soon."
