GNERC Chairman Davit Narmania has confirmed that Davit Vardiashvili is serving as the acting director of the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE). However, he said he has no information regarding reports that GSE Director Vano Zardiashvili has resigned.

"We have no information about whether Vano Zardiashvili is currently on leave. The State Electrosystem is not under our supervision. We are aware that Davit Vardiashvili has been appointed as acting director," Narmania told TV Pirveli.

Vardiashvili has served as Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company since September 1, 2025. Before that, he was First Deputy State Representative in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

According to BMG, Zardiashvili submitted his resignation on August 31 and is currently on official leave, although the Ministry of Economy has not yet confirmed his departure. BMG also reports that Vardiashvili is expected to permanently replace Zardiashvili as Director of the Georgian State Electrosystem.
