Two new ropeways will be constructed in Gudauri, a popular ski resort located on the south-facing plateau of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, the contracts signed by the Government of Georgia (GoG) with the Austrian company Doppelmayr revealed. The project aims increasing the tourist attractiveness of the resort. The capacity of ski slopes will increase by 1800 skiers per hour.
An Employer of the contract is a company MTA of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia, which has concluded an agreement with Doppelmayr in a fast-track procedure.
The construction of the first ropeway will cost GEL 33,951,900, the second one - GEL 32,481,300.
Currently, only one gondola lift operates in Gudauri, which, according to the MTA, is constantly overloaded during the winter season and cannot meet capacity.
