The obligation to wear facemasks and other current regulations will be abolished on March 28, 2022. The decision was made by the Interagency Coordination Council at its meeting held and led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Government Administration yesterday.
Based on the analysis of the epidemiological situation in Georgia, the obligation to wear a face mask will be maintained only indoors and in public transport from March 28, 2022.
Restrictions on the number of guests will be lifted, as well as public catering facilities, sports, art or other events, including social gatherings.
Civil servants currently working remotely will return to their work places.
At the same time, the obligation of self-isolation for those citizens of Georgia who return to the country without PCR test is getting abolished.
According to the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, the vaccination promotion program will be continued during April 2022, according to which citizens aged over 50 will receive 200 GEL for the first dose of the vaccine, while the so-called boosted immunity individuals of the same age group will receive 100 GEL.
It was noted at the meeting of the Council today that Georgia will be the first country in the region to receive the Covid treatment created by Pfizer. The first lot of pills branded as Paxlovid will arrive in the country today, and people with chronic diseases and members of risk groups will be given the medication needed for their course of treatment free of charge when infected, to prevent any complications of their health condition.
The Parliament and Administration of the President of Georgia are actively involved in the work of the Interagency Coordination Council headed by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
