Georgia’s government collected GEL 298 million in fuel excise taxes in January–May 2026, up 11% year-on-year, according to the Treasury's latest report.
Of the total, GEL 145 million came from gasoline excise taxes, GEL 93.7 million from diesel, and GEL 59 million from other petroleum products. While excise revenue from gasoline and diesel declined slightly compared to last year, revenue from other fuel categories surged by 207%.
Based on excise tax calculations, approximately 394 million liters of gasoline and 280 million liters of diesel were sold in Georgia during the first five months of the year.
Meanwhile, Georgia imported 738,000 tons of petroleum products worth $635 million, up 28% in value and 11% in volume year-on-year. Russia remained the largest supplier with $220 million in exports to Georgia, followed by Turkey ($84 million) and Romania ($61 million).
