The Georgian government has lifted restrictions on the wholesale sale of pharmaceutical products. Previously, it was mandatory from October 1, 2025, for all nationally or internationally registered pharmaceuticals to provide a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certificate confirming production standards. Wholesale distributors were given until April 1, 2026, to sell their existing stock.
Following a change to Government Resolution №114 of March 4, 2022, wholesale distributors (excluding imports) were allowed to sell products up to their expiration date. The Pharmaceutical Association noted that many businesses could not fully sell their stock within the original timeframe, prompting them to request adjustments from the relevant ministry.
As of April 1, 2026, it is permitted to wholesale or retail registered pharmaceutical products (excluding imports) until the product’s expiration date, even if registration was previously suspended under the earlier rule.
It is also worth noting that any medicine registered or re-registered in Georgia from October 1, 2025, must have a GMP certificate for both the final product and any substances used in its production. This requirement applies to both distributors and local manufacturers.
