The Government of Georgia is increasing the salaries of tens of thousands of public employees from the next year, - according to the adjusted draft budget for 2022.
The document reads, that the basic salary of the person employed in the public sector will be increased from GEL 1000 to GEL 1100 in 2022. The increase will amount to 10%.
In total, according to the updated version of the 2022 budget, the government salary fund will increase by GEL 177 million to GEL 1.83 billion.
According to the 2022 budget, 112,752 people are employed in the public sector, whose salaries amount to GEL 1,830,644,800 in total. This means a salary of GEL 16,236 per employee per year, and a salary of GEL 1353 per month. During 2021, 112,605 people were employed in the public sector and GEL 1,636,871,100 was spent on their salaries, which means a monthly salary of 1211 GEL per employee. Accordingly, the basic salary of an average employee will be increased by GEL 130 per month from the next year.
