JSC Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) has announced a tender of GEL 89 million for the construction of a new high voltage substation in the village of Idliani in Mestia Municipality.

According to the tender description, the construction of new hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 200 megawatts is planned in the Svaneti region, and the current energy infrastructure cannot deliver this amount of power from Svaneti without overloading, therefore the construction of a new substation is needed.

JSC "Georgian State Electric System" plans to build a 500/110/35/10 kV substation. The construction of the mentioned substation will facilitate the development of internal renewable energy in the Georgian electricity system, which in turn will contribute to the adequacy of generation and to some extent affect the reduction of electricity or gas imports," the technical description says.

According to the tender, the project should be implemented in 2023-2025.
