Georgia’s Municipal Development Fund has relaunched the competition for the design of the “Wine City” project in Gurjaani after the initial tender was suspended due to the need for revisions and clarifications in the competition documentation.
The new competition was announced on June 2, with bids to be accepted between July 1 and July 6. The estimated value of the procurement is GEL 1.46 million. The project covers the design of a museum and an associated scientific, cultural, educational, and tourism complex on a 22,174 sq. m site.
According to the Infrastructure Ministry, the goal is to create a multifunctional center that promotes Georgia’s wine heritage, supports research and innovation, and contributes to regional tourism and economic development.
The complex will include exhibition and educational spaces, a conservation laboratory, storage facilities, a specialized library and wine archive, tasting halls, gastronomy venues, recreational areas, and commercial units. Part of the outdoor space will feature a demonstration collection of grape varieties linked to the project's wine-focused theme.
