Chairman of Armenia's Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, has announced his resignation, becoming the fourth senior official from the country’s law enforcement sector to step down within the past 24 hours. Kyaramyan shared his decision through the official Facebook page of the Investigative Committee, citing the need for an "internal reassessment" of the entire law enforcement system in Armenia.
Kyaramyan, who has served as the head of the Investigative Committee since July 2021, follows recent resignation announcements from Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, head of the Anti-Corruption Committee Sasun Khachatryan, and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Karen Andreasyan.
Media reports also suggest that Rustam Badasyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, and Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, have submitted their resignations.
These resignations come in the wake of Prime Minister Pashinyan’s stern remarks during a government meeting on November 14, where he expressed severe dissatisfaction with the work of Armenia’s law enforcement and judicial systems, declaring that his "patience has run out" and promising decisive action. On November 18, Pashinyan officially confirmed that he had requested several senior officials to leave their positions.
