Giorgi Tsereteli, head of the Roads Department, has resigned from his position based on his own will.

According to the ministry, the department currently does not have a new head and his duties are being performed by his deputy.

Giorgi Tsereteli was appointed to the department in 2021. Before that, since April 2018, he had been working as the deputy chairman of the Roads Department.

As a reminder, on April 2, the Prime Minister of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, stated that the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure should be divided into two bodies.

Kobakhidze initially named Grigol Liluashvili, who held the post of head of the State Security Service of Georgia earlier, as the candidate for the post of Minister of Regional Development on April 2. However, on April 4, it became clear that Liluashvili would no longer hold this post due to disagreements. Ultimately, Tbilisi Vice Mayor Kakha Guledani was appointed to this position.

In addition, according to initial information, Irakli Karseladze was to take over the infrastructure direction of the divided ministry, however, on April 24, it became clear that Karseladze had also resigned from his position and was replaced by Revaz Sokhadze.
