Rehabilitation works on an 8.6-kilometer section of the Sadakhlo–Tsopi–Akhkerpi road in the Marneuli municipality are nearing completion, according to the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
The road, classified as one of internal state importance, serves as a key connection to the border with the Republic of Armenia and is considered vital for regional connectivity and transportation.
The project involves the full rehabilitation of the road section, including:
- Reconstruction of the carriageway and one bridge
- Restoration and construction of artificial structures
- Installation of drainage systems and access connections
- Construction of water pipes, yard entrances, parking spaces, and passenger pavilions
- Road signs and surface marking works
The total cost of the project exceeds 6.6 million GEL and is fully funded by the state budget.
The Roads Department emphasized that once completed, the upgraded road will significantly improve local mobility, support trade and tourism, and enhance cross-border access to Armenia.
