Health and Auto Insurance Coverage in Georgia Continues to Grow – Regulator

The number of people using insurance services in Georgia has continued to rise, with health and motor insurance coverage expanding steadily, according to the State Insurance Supervision Service.

As of Q1 2026, the number of health insurance policies reached 811,684, covering around 21% of the population. This represents a 5% annual increase, while compared to 2024 the growth stands at 11%.

Motor insurance coverage is also expanding, with policies increasing to 155,671, covering about 8% of registered vehicles, up 11% year-on-year.

Health insurance remains the dominant segment, generating GEL 303 million in premiums, with Imedi L (38%), TBC Insurance (14%), and GPI Holding (10%) leading the market.

Overall, the insurance sector continues to grow, with total premiums reaching GEL 521 million in Q1 2026, up 15% annually, while net profit stood at GEL 31 million and total claims payments increased to GEL 200 million.
