Georgian honey producer Hoby, founded in 2020, is eyeing export opportunities after participating in the international exhibition in Shenzhen, China. According to founder Mikheil Chigladze, the company attracted strong interest from potential partners.
“Chinese companies showed particular interest in our honey. One has 11 stores in Shenzhen, and another specializes in e-commerce across China. We also received inquiries from Korea about Georgian sauce Tkemali, while Saudi Arabia expressed interest in our dried fruits,” Chigladze told BM.GE.
He also noted that a major investor from Azerbaijan, who owns supermarket chains in the Gulf region, visited Hoby’s factory and discussed exporting at least 250 tons of honey. Interest is also growing in Germany.
Currently, Hoby sells mainly on the local market, but expansion plans are underway. The company intends to build a new factory in Natakhtari, supported by an Agricultural Agency grant, to diversify production.
“We don’t want to remain a seasonal honey producer. From next year, we plan to launch new products, Georgian sauces and dried fruits, to establish a broader year-round presence,” Chigladze said.
