In 2025, Georgia had 232 hospitals in operation, which was seven fewer than in 2024. Despite the decline in the number of hospitals, the country’s total hospital bed capacity increased by 1.8% year-on-year, reaching 15.2 thousand beds, according to the 2025 Health Care Indicators report.
The number of outpatient and polyclinic facilities also increased during the year. Georgia had 2,318 outpatient medical institutions in 2025, up by 30 compared with the previous year. These facilities recorded 16.8 million visits to doctors, representing a 6% increase compared with 2024.
At the same time, the number of doctors working in medical institutions decreased. In 2025, Georgia had 22,500 doctors, compared with 24,100 in 2024. Meanwhile, the number of nursing staff remained unchanged at 21,300.
The figures indicate a mixed trend in the healthcare sector, with expanded hospital capacity and increased demand for outpatient services, alongside a decline in the number of practicing doctors.
