The Government of Georgia plans to spend 12 million 680 thousand GEL to back up tourism next year.
According to the first draft state budget for 2021, allocated funding for the National Tourism Administration is approximately 10 million less than the current year's budget (22.6 million) and 4 times less comparing to the funding for the LEPLs in 2019 (50.6 million).
In the program budget, which accompanies the main financial document of the country, we read that the goal of the program is to popularize Georgia as a tourist country on the international market; development of a new tourism product and diversification of the existing tourism; development of small tourist infrastructure and providing high quality services to tourists.
"The government’s aim is to increase number of international travelers in Georgia with these steps and achieve a 10% increase in 2021-2024 comparing to the number for 2019 (9,357,964 international travelers)," the document reads.
The document notes, that epidemic situation in the world and low activity of the targeted groups may be a risk for the determined indicator.
