How Much Did Tourism Recover In January-August Compared To 2019?

Tourism has recovered by 51.5% in January-August 2022 compared to 2019, according to the National Tourism Administration (GNTA).

According to the statistical data of August, 3,256,370 international travelers visited the country in January-August 2022. Compared to the same period of 2021, the increase is +208.9%. The rate of recovery of visits by international travelers stands at 51.5% compared to the data of the 8th month of 2019, which means that tourism is still 48.5% behind the rate of the pre-pandemic period.

"In the 8 months of 2022, 2,251,978 international tourist visits took place in Georgia, the increase compared to the period of January-August 2021 is +155%. The rate of recovery of international tourist visits is 65.3% compared to the same period of 2019", - the agency notes.

In August 2022, 912,041 international travelers visited Georgia, an increase is +195.5% compared to August 2021, while the international travelers' visits amounted to 67.1% compared to the same period of 2019.

The National Administration of Tourism notes that the recovery dynamics of tourist visits have increased significantly.

In August 2022, 582,995 international tourist visits took place in Georgia, the increase compared to the same period of 2021 is +135.8%. The recovery rate of international tourist visits stands at 77.4% compared to the same period of 2019.
