Kavelashvili was a member of the ruling party GD and later the leader of the political party People's Power. Kavelashvili is a member of the Georgian Parliament in the ninth and tenth convocations.
According to Mikheil Kavelashvili's latest property declaration, he owns an 88-square-meter garage on Gabashvili Street in Tbilisi. In addition, Mikheil Kavelashvili indicated in his previous declaration that he owns an adult son, Giorgi Ivanishvili, who holds a 134-square-meter apartment located at 83 Chavchavadze Street in Tbilisi.
