How Much Revenue Did Georgia Gain From Electricity Exports In 8M23?

Electricity exports from Georgia hit a record high in 8M23.

In January-August 2023, 1,336.3 million kWh of electricity was exported from Georgia, from which the country received more than USD 94 million. The income from exports has increased by 23% compared to the same period of the last year.

In 8M2023, electricity worth almost USD 85 million was exported to Turkey, which was an increase of about USD 13 million compared to the corresponding period of the last year. The country sold electricity worth USD 5.1 million to Azerbaijan, the increase was almost 1.2 million compared to the corresponding period of 2022. Electricity exports to Armenia increased to USD 4.1 million this year.

As for the volume of exports, 1,171.47 million kWh of electricity was exported to Turkey, so almost 88% of the exports accounted for Turkey. As for Azerbaijan and Armenia, 86.16 million kWh and 78.46 million kWh of electricity were exported there.

A total of 971 million kWh of electricity was exported from Georgia in 2022.
