The value of total pension assets exceeded GEL 4.4 billion, - the Georgian Pension Agency announced on Friday. According to the agency’s information, the mentioned amount represents the cumulative pension of 1.5 million citizens. The volume of investment income is GEL 896 million.
"In January 2024, zero annual inflation was observed in Georgia, and monthly inflation amounted to 0.3%, so the National Bank reduced the refinancing rate by 0.5% to 9.0% at the meeting on January 31. Low inflation and declining interest rates have a positive effect on the Pension Agency's fixed income. Total real earnings amounted to 14.8% from the beginning to date.
According to the Pension Agency, 18.8% of their assets are placed on foreign stock exchanges, of which 45.8% of the stock portfolio is invested in North America, 18.5% in the developed Asia region, and 17.6% in Europe.
In January 2024, the dynamics of global stock markets differed among the regions. Last month was particularly good for the US stock market, which rose 1.6%. However, prices in other regions' markets saw a decline," the pension agency said in a statement.
