Hunting is prohibited in and around Bioli Wellness Resort because the area falls within Tbilisi’s administrative boundaries, the Environmental Supervision Department has stated.
The agency responded to a Facebook post by resort owner Tamaz Mchedlidze, who said on October 28 that frequent gunshots were disturbing guests, with some leaving earlier than planned. He said the resort had been told by a state hotline that the hunting season was open.
The department said it had received no official reports of gunfire or suspected illegal hunting in the area. Under Georgian regulations, hunting is prohibited within city administrative boundaries.
Following the reports, the department placed the area under enhanced surveillance, with patrol and rapid-response teams conducting intensive checks. It added that 10 hunting violations had been detected within Tbilisi’s administrative boundaries in the two months since the migratory bird hunting season began.
