Koba Gvenetadze's term as the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia will expire in March 2023.
The NBG governor spoke about his 7-year mandate and future plans in TV-program "Analytics".
"I failed to convince the population that the National Bank cannot solve all the problems in the country", - Koba Gvenetadze said.
At the same time, Koba Gvenetadze considers it disappointing that during the mandate of the NBG Governor, Georgia did not receive the investment rating.
“Georgia saw a credit rating upgrade in 2017 for the first time since 2011. Moody's was the first, followed by S&P and Fitch, and then it continued. We are currently two bids short of investment grade. I am 95% confident, that without the pandemic and Russian aggression, we would definitely have an investment rating today. Unfortunately, it can be said that we lost two years," Koba Gvenetadze said.
