I want to state once again that Georgia's place is in Europe, Georgia deserves candidate status for EU membership! - Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest.

As the head of the government noted, Georgia expects a far-sighted and fair decision from Europe regarding the candidate status.

"It is the very ideal of freedom that has been driving Georgia for centuries in its quest to become a full-fledged member of the family of European nations. Europe, which is based on Christian values. As a result of the large-scale reforms carried out by our government, today we are closer to this goal than ever. We have made great efforts to ensure the rule of law and democracy, economic progress and social justice; Building state institutions and strengthening public institutions rightfully deserves recognition from impartial and objective evaluators around the world. Studies of authoritative international organizations prove this”, said Gharibashvili.

According to him, visa liberalization, the association agreement with the European Union and the free trade agreement, as well as the granting of a European perspective to Georgia by the European Union, are the achievements of the current government's efforts.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank Prime Minister Orbán for appreciating these efforts and for his constant support.

Today, we expect from Europe a far-sighted and fair decision regarding the candidate status for EU membership. This will be a well-deserved recognition of the united efforts of our government and people.
