On October 26, in Tbilisi Marriott, a financial agreement was signed between ICS LTD and DFC, based on which a logistics center of international standards will be built in Georgia, creating a precedent in the country. ICS is also service provider as a Licensee of Federal Express Corporation in Georgia. A logistics center equipped with modern standards will be built in 18 months on 10,000 sq/m near Tbilisi International Airport. By developing the logistics infrastructure of Georgia and creating up to 150 jobs, the regional logistics center will contribute to the economic development of the country and the region in general.
For this purpose, the licensee of the international transport company FedEx in Georgia "Information Communication Systems", with the support of financial advisory company “Wings&Freeman Capital”, took a long-term loan of USD 4 million from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC),. Information Communication Systems" also mobilized its own investment capital in construction and the respective total project investment size comprises USD 6 million .
"There is no analogue of this project in Georgia. The logistics center will support FedEx shipments, but its key and important function is that the project will provide logistics services to small and large companies operating in Georgia. Accordingly, companies will not have to purchase and manage their own warehouses, that will allow the cost saving. In cooperation with companies, we carry out storage of their products, description, daily supply of the network. We are glad that we will implement this concept for the first time in Georgia" - says the Executive Director of "Information Communication Systems", Mrs. Nino Menteshashvili.
It should be noted that the new logistics center will also contribute to the development of e-commerce in Georgia, as the new warehouse services will be connected to electronic platforms and the delivery of products will be done through the logistics center without the efforts of the stores.
It was a long and difficult process to receive funding from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), however, it is worth noting that "Information Communication Systems" got the highest rating in three out of four criteria - the contribution to the development of Georgia's infrastructure, the contribution to the development of industry and leadership of women in the company.
The demand for a unified, high-standard logistics center in Georgia is high, and after the completion of the project, the company will start taking care of its development.
