Opposition MP Roman Gotsiridz states that if the USA continues to announce sanctions against members of the Georgian government, the existing investors will also leave the country.
The fact is that in the first quarter of 2024, foreign direct investments in the amount of USD 201 million entered Georgia, which was USD 365 million or 64% less than in the same period of the previous year.
"After the start of the anti-Western campaign, the downward trend of foreign investments can be directly observed. In 2023, it was also sharply reduced. Nothing came in from outside. The volume of foreign direct investment was reinvestment of profit. This trend continues even now, half of it is reinvested funds, no money comes from outside again, and this is when the law on agents has not yet been adopted, and the US sanctions have not been announced. If this trend continues, Georgia's economy will collapse. The only solution is to remove this government. No investor in the opposite country will dare to invest in the country, because it will be vulnerable," said Gotsiridze.
