Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze described the allegations of illegal income against former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili as regrettable and said that the investigation will determine the truth.
Responding to journalists’ questions, Kaladze noted that Garibashvili ended his political career several months ago and left the ruling party.
“It is very sad and regrettable when we hear such statements about our former teammate. I have known Irakli Garibashvili for a long time. We have been together since 2012, he was our friend. I am very sad, but let's wait for the investigation. You know that he left the party and political activities several months ago, and made a statement about this at the party office,” said Kakha Kaladze.
Tbilisi mayor added that he learned about the charges from the Prosecutor’s Office briefing.
“I repeat once again, the fact we have been hearing about in recent days is very sad and regrettable. I cannot say anything more. Let’s wait for the relevant agencies and the investigation. The cars used by the Prime Minister were state property. As for the charter flight, he has already made clarifications on this issue, and it’s no longer of interest. The investigation is ongoing, and we should wait for the results before making conclusions. I don’t think it’s right to discuss this prematurely,” Kaladze stated.
