The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the fourth review of Armenia’s three-year reserve program, increasing the total available funds to $122.7 million. The program is preventive in nature and aims to support the country’s balance of payments in the event of potential external shocks.
According to Armenia's Ministry of Finance, on December 16, the IMF approved an additional $24.5 million (18.4 million SDRs) under the program. “The positive decision was based on Armenia’s successful implementation of structural benchmarks and the effectiveness of its economic policies,” the ministry stated.
IMF representatives highlighted Armenia's economic policy priorities, which focus on stimulating the private sector, promoting exports, encouraging investments, and fostering a knowledge-based growth model. These measures are ultimately aimed at reducing poverty levels and strengthening social protections for the population.
The fifth review of the reserve program is scheduled for April-June 2025.
