In 2023, revenues from customs services amounted to 101.7% of the planned indicator. The figure is another clear proof of the successful activity of customs officers, - the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, said this during his speech at the event dedicated to the Customs' International Day.
As he noted, 2023 is a special year for Georgia after receiving the EU candidate status.
"2024 will also be outstanding for the customs administration of Georgia and, at the same time, for the transport sector and exporters interested in the exporting of goods to the EU market, for the government institutions implementing the relevant state policy", said the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili.
According to him, it is planned to join the conventions of common transit and unified administration of Georgia this year. As a result, economic operators will be given the opportunity to transport cargo to 35 countries through the new computerized transit system based on one electronic document and guarantee issued by the Georgian customs.
According to Lasha Khutsishvili, from 2021, the Institute of Economic Operators authorized according to the EU model was introduced in Georgia. Currently, there are 8 economic operators with this type of status.
