Georgia recorded a positive migration balance in 2025, with 131,501 immigrants entering the country and 114,374 emigrants leaving, according to new data released by Geostat. This resulted in a net migration gain of 17,127 people.
Among Georgian citizens specifically, 62,073 people returned, while 58,799 emigrated, meaning 3,274 more Georgians came back than left. This makes 2025 an exception, as over the past decade Georgian emigration has generally exceeded immigration. Between 2015 and 2025, Georgia saw a net loss of 240,428 citizens, with 2023 marking the peak year of emigration (-73,600).
As for foreign nationals, 20,139 Russian citizens immigrated to Georgia in 2025, while 19,226 left, resulting in a net increase of 913 Russians residing long-term in the country.
Migration from Ukraine also rose: 6,937 Ukrainians arrived and 3,658 departed, leaving a positive balance of 3,279. Meanwhile, the number of long-term Indian residents increased by 1,229, with 5,685 arrivals and 4,456 departures.
