In January-June 2021, 21,839 children were born in Georgia. Preliminary figures were released today by Geostat. During the same period, 25,821 people died in the country - this number includes those lost to covid.
However, in the first half of 2021, the natural increase (the difference between the number of births and deaths) was estimated at 3,982 people. Positive rates of natural increase were observed only in two regions of the country: Adjara (717) and Kvemo Kartli (195).
This year, most children were born in the capital - 7,101, in Adjara - 2,556; In Guria - 521; 4,286 in Imereti, 1,822 in Kakheti; In Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 506; In Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 123; In Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti - 1,529 in Samtskhe-Javakheti - 926; In Kvemo Kartli - 2 499 and in Shida Kartli - 1 487.
As for the death statistics, Tbilisi leading here too with 7 776 deaths, 1,839 people died in Adjara in the first 6 months; In Guria - 930; In Imereti - 4 286; In Kakheti - 2,271; In Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 748; In Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 377; In Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti - 2,501; In Samtskhe-Javakheti - 970; In Kvemo Kartli - 2,304; In Shida Kartli - 1 819.
